The modular indoor plant watering and gardening system that allows the user to monitor the condition of their plants statistically and maintain them physically
Global warming, pollution, and climate change are the three horsemen of apocalypse, brought to the Earth by the human race. Every small decision you make can somehow fuel the coals that burn our atmosphere. Let's say you buy some parsley, you may not know it, but you are involuntarily contributing to pesticide that cause greenhouse gasses to be produced which cause global warming. Each action has an equal reaction. Our planet’s temperature increases by the second due to companies that triumph on the use of factories or burn their crops to keep pests away. Such actions cause greenhouse gasses such as CO2 to be released into our atmosphere where it rises to the top and stays there restricting heat from escaping causing a whole domino effect of bad problems. Our ice caps melt away into the oceans which continue to swallow countries, cities, and islands inch by inch drowning them. Scientists predict that by the year 2040 cities and villages of mumbai, maldives, and so many others will be swallowed by the oceans due to the rapid increase in temperatures that cause the ice caps to melt. Species are becoming extinct, their bodies dropping as fast as the quality of the air we breathe. Imagine growing up in a world where a child goes to a museum to see the skeleton of a rhinoceros in the same exhibit as a dinosaur, two thing that the generation of the future will not be able to see breathe. It is now more than ever that we need to reduce the temperature, we should not have the animals and their kingdom pay for us driving our car and charging our phones. We must go back before we can not.
To design and make an automatic planter for people living in cities as it will help to reduce the problem of global warming by creating O2 from CO2 without any of the effort of tending to a plant. It will use and electric pump controlled by an arduino nano using c++, it will be housed in a planter made of recycled materials. It will automatically water the plants using the pump every time the plant gets dry. It will include a planter light for indoor use. It will show temperature and humidity in the area around the plants and will have a small compartment for accessories like scissors to cut fresh herbs. It will have a mini composter to be used on the plants and will run on either 18650 Li-ion batteries or solar panels. It will have a white and black background with green accents. To make it more sleek, aesthetic, and modern it will use marble, concrete, wood, and matte textures. It will be suitable for rain and other weather outdoors but also be suitable to be kept indoors. This is how we will defeat global warming. By creating a society where concrete jungles and lush forests can be integrated together.
| 3 VERSIONS RENDERS |
Foundations like teamtrees are attempting to plant trees to combat climate change as it is the most effective way of regulating CO2 in the atmosphere, the take in CO2 and push out O2. There is one limitation, the availability of land. Most places on Earth are either already lush with greens or stacked with buildings, and we can not solve one problem by creating another. My solution involves integrating them. If our building are filled vertically with plants it would be more effective and beneficial since the city is where most of the CO2 originates from. The problem is that people don’t have the time to tend for them and they end up dying, so the perfect solution would be to create something that tends for itself.
| LASER CUTTING AND WOODWORKING ENCLOSURE |
Comparing the final product to the final design I made I made very few changes. The biggest one was reducing the width of the face so that I would be able to laser cut it. I made it the size of an A3 paper which was the cut size of the laser cutter. The other change I made is changing the black wood texture to a black leather because the vinyl roll I had ordered which was just a black wood vinyl did not come, so I had to go to a local store and buy whatever was available.
