The reason I love engineering so much is because it's the process of creating something that makes my life, or other people's lives that tad bit easier. My best ideas always come from my personal experience. Whenever I have a problem, for example: a lack of privacy, or a lack of an organized workspace, I use my personal experience of what my optimal version of that would be to design a great product that solves my problems. And one of my biggest inspirations of that philosophy is Ron Swanson, a character from a tv show called “Parks and Recreation” who is a very straightforward old fashioned man who believes “people who buy things are suckers”.
Whenever I have an idea, I usually go straight to CAD which is somewhat of a no-no for professional designers, but I do this because it takes me much less time to make a fully detailed CAD model than to draw one, and once I do I would have access to it’s measurements, how it looks in certain places, its various angles, and could perform many other tests. I usually go straight to Fusion 360, make the model, render it to see how it looks, then use the drawing feature to make an orthographic drawing with all the measurements mapped out so that if I was to make a prototype or a final model I would have each and every measurement accurate and proportional to the CAD model making it look exactly how I intended.
In my opinion that is a simple question to answer. I doubt my love and passion for the craft of engineering and problem solving is one you will find anywhere else. I wish to engineer a solution to every problem I find and see my skills grow through my education as well as see myself grow as a person. I just want to do what I love and nothing else, and I will do anything for that life. That job that presents a new and challenging question everyday on a product or project that i believe in to my fullest.
